William Troyer

–

Harrisonburg, Virginia

William J. Troyer (Bill) of Harrisonburg, VA passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, February 3rd at the age of 86. He was born in Pryor, OK, to Harry and Mary (Mast) Troyer and grew up in Greenwood, DE.

He earned a degree in Accounting from James Madison College while juggling a growing family, working, and playing tennis on the college team. After college, Bill began his career in accounting and became a CPA. Bill put his career on hold to serve for two years in short-term missions in Brazil. When the family returned from Brazil in 1979, they settled in Harrisonburg.

A few years later, Bill started his own CPA firm and, even in his retirement, he continued to work with clients and volunteered his time generously to the church and several non-profit organizations.

Bill was a loving husband, father, grandfather and friend to many. He was a faithful servant of Jesus Christ and lived out his faith daily through his integrity, generosity and kindness. His church community was an important part of his life and he and Chris faithfully attended and served at the Church of the Nazarene for 47 years. Bill played tennis, enjoyed bowling and always strived to have the most beautiful lawn on the block.

Bill is survived by his wife of 63 years, Christine (Kurtz) Troyer, his daughter, Kimberly Miller and husband Paul, of Fishersville, daughter Lori O’Nan, and husband Sid, of Robards, KY, grandchildren Erin Kirk (Joshua) and Shane O’Nan of Lexington, KY, William A. Troyer of Waynesboro, Jennica Miller of Spring Hill, TN, and step-grandchildren Jared Miller (Erica), Jolene Miller, Ben Miller (Brooke), John Miller (Kimberly), Stephanie Miller, and Janelle Greenmun (Jeff), eleven step-great-grandchildren, his sister Linda Miller and brother-in-law Leonard Beachy and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his sister Carolyn Beachy and brother-in-law Allen Miller.

The funeral service will be held on Tuesday, February 17, 2026, at 10:30 a.m. at Harrisonburg Church of the Nazarene. Burial will follow at Weavers Cemetery.

The family will receive friends on Monday, February 16, 2026, from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
