William Michael "Mike" Dean, 66

William Michael "Mike" Dean, 66, a resident of Harrisonburg, passed away on Thursday, October 13, 2016 at Sentara RMH Medical Center.

Mr. Dean was born on February 21, 1950 in Page County and was the son of the Earl Everette and Mary Ellen (Merica) Dean. He was employed by Frazier's Quarry prior to his retirement for twenty nine and a half years. He started out there as a Euclid driver and eventually advanced his way to foreman, and was in charge of the production crew. He was always a hard worker and made every effort to do his best at everything he did. He loved the outdoors, hunting and fishing. He loved working on boats and was always making improvements to the boats that he had. He was a walking encyclopedia of information concerning boats and fishing and was always happy to help friends with their projects. Mike had several state citations from his fishing adventures. He was never serious and always a joker. He was an avid fan of blue grass and George Jones. Mike will be surely missed by his family and friends.

He is survived by his wife of 39 years, Deborah (Bible) Dean; two children, David Michael Dean of Harrisonburg, Rebecca Ellen Dean and Aubrey Hottinger of Elkton; five grandchildren, Christian, Zachary, and Michael Hottinger, Elizabeth and Syrinus Dean and a group of very caring friends.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister and a half-brother.

A graveside service will be held on Monday, October 17, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at the Dean Mountain Cemetery on Skyline Drive with Pastor Ted Hott Officiating.

The family will receive friends at McMullen Funeral Home on Sunday evening from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. Friends may also call at the home at any time.
