Wanda Rhodes

Wanda Lou Bodkin Rhodes, 73, of Harrisonburg, passed away on Saturday, February 22, 2025 at Sentara RMH Medical Center after a long battle with kidney disease.

Wanda was born on December 25, 1951 in Harrisonburg and was a daughter of the late Delbert and Elizabeth Stone Bodkin. Wanda obtained her nursing degree from Roanoke Memorial Hospital and spent the majority of her career in geriatric nursing. She enjoyed beaches, mountains, and her sister’s dahlias. Wanda loved her entire family, especially her grandchildren, niece and nephew.

One memory Nancy recalls is a time when Wanda was in the hospital and very sick. Wanda was asked by the doctor if she wanted to continue fighting and her response was “YES!, I want to see my grandchildren grow up.” At the time her grandchildren were very young, Miriam will be 21 in June and Adam celebrated his 18th birthday in December.

Surviving is a son, Jason Rhodes and wife Laura of Harrisonburg; twin sister, Nancy Harold and husband Charles of Dayton; niece, Kara Wilkins; nephew, Michael Harold; grandchildren, Miriam Rhodes, Adam Rhodes; great-nieces and nephews, Kenzie Jackson, Grayson Harold, Whitney Harold, Parker Harold.

Following cremation, a memorial service will be held on Thursday, March 13, 2025 at McMullen Funeral Home at 6:00 p.m. The family will receive friends following the service.
