Stanely Dean Reedy Obituary (1929

Stanley Dean Reedy, 90, passed away April 6, 2019 at Life Care in New Market. Mr. Reedy was born on January 18, 1929 in Genoa, Rockingham County, Va. and was the son of Philander David and Flossie Irena Shoemaker Reedy. He was raised on a farm in Singers Glen and moved to McGaheysville in his late teens where he met and married Gurnie Jane Kyger in 1949. He was working at Shenandoah Produce in maintenance when the farm in Melrose was purchased in 1955. He started farming full time in his thirties raising poultry and beef. The farm was sold in 1987 and he worked for Rocco and Rockingham County Fairgrounds until his retirement in 2001. Surviving children are Paulette Faye Reedy, Gary Dean Reedy and David Leonard Reedy all of Rockingham County, Dwight Allen Reedy of Chesapeake and Bobby Lee Reedy of McGaheysville; 14 grandchildren; 27 great grandchildren and seven nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and four sisters; Tiny Miller, Ola Keister, Marjorie Pittsenbarger and Mary "Marie" Bricker: an infant daughter, a great grandson and five nieces and nephews.
