Shirley Ann Carper, 69

Shirley Ann Persinger Carper, 69, a resident of Staunton, passed away on Friday, April 10, 2015 at her home.
Mrs. Carper was born on December 4, 1945 in Rockingham County and was the daughter of the late Joseph Leonard, Sr. and Goldie Helmick Persinger. She was a homemaker who loved gardening and canning. She was a member of People's Baptist Church.
On September 7, 1963, she married Donald Lee Carper, Sr. who survives.
Also surviving are three sons, Donald Lee Carper, Jr. of Grottoes; Jeffrey Wayne Carper and wife Cindy of Mount Crawford; Steven Troy Carper and wife Pam of Staunton; a brother, Ricky Persinger of Montana; a half-brother, Harry Hedrick of Port Republic; five grandchildren, Sarah Price and husband Justin, Rebekah Carper, Lindsey Carper, Aaron Carper, and Seth Carper.
She was preceded in death by three brothers, Joseph Persinger, Jr., Melvin Persinger, Davey Persinger and a sister, Elsie Mick.
Pastor Dave Ball will conduct a funeral service at McMullen Funeral Home Chapel on Monday April 13, 2015 at 2 p.m. Burial will follow at Greenmount Cemetery.
The family will receive friends on Saturday evening from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
