Sharlene F. Showalter Obituary (1924 - 2011)

Sharlene F. Showalter, 86 Harrisonburg Sharlene Faught Showalter, 86, formerly of Mount Clinton died July 30, 2011 at Oak Lea Nursing Home. Mrs. Showalter was born on October 9, 1924, in Edom, Virginia and was the daughter of the late A. Moffet and Lillie Wenger Faught. She spent her life in Rockingham County and was a homemaker. Mrs. Showalter was a member of the Carl D. Lee VFW Post 9872 Ladies Auxiliary and had served as Past President of the 7th District. She was a member of the Mount Clinton United Methodist Church. On January 15, 1947, she married A. Max Showalter who preceded her in death January 10, 2011. Surviving are four children, Sandra Waggy and husband Dwight, Mechanicsville; JB Showalter and wife Nancy, Bridgewater; Larry Showalter and wife Twila, Penn Laird; Gail Barnes and husband Bill, Harrisonburg; a brother, Don Faught and wife Verl, Dumfries, nine grandchildren, Theresa Showalter, Russell Showalter and wife Jayme; Laura Waggy, Marshall Waggy, Jason Wagner and wife Jenny; Amber Showalter, Brandy Showalter, Kristina Barnes and Ronald Barnes; and two great grandchildren, Ivy and Mason Showalter. Mrs. Showalter was also preceded in death by a son, Paul Showalter who died July 26, 2011 and his wife Tammy Showalter who died April 9, 2001. Reverend Jim Joyner and Wendell ?Sonny? Henkel will conduct a funeral service, Wednesday morning, August 3, 2011 at 10 a.m. at the Mount Clinton United Methodist Church. Burial will follow at Mt. Horeb Cemetery. The family will receive friends Tuesday evening from 7 p.m. until 8 p.m. at the McMullen Funeral Home, Harrisonburg.
