Ruby Kathryn Wolverton, 99

Ruby Kathryn Wolverton, 99, a resident of Harrisonburg, passed away on Saturday, June 18, 2016 at Sentara RMH Medical Center.
Mrs. Wolverton was born on October 18, 1916 and was the daughter of the late George Washington and Dora Louella Peters Stidley. She was employed for many years with Rockingham Bag Company and later worked for Valley Washers Laundry. She was a charter member of West Side Baptist Church.
On June 1, 1941, she married Paul Wolverton who preceded her in death on November 14, 1966.
Surviving are her children, Fred Wolverton of Buckeye Lake, Ohio, Steve Wolverton of Macon, Georgia, Dora Ann Fulk and husband Ernest of Harrisonburg, Ronnie Wolverton and wife Janet of Grottoes; a daughter-in-law, Janet Wolverton of Linville; ten grandchildren; seventeen great grandchildren and three great great grandchildren. She was the last surviving member of her family.
Mrs. Wolverton was preceded in death by a son, Donnie Wolverton and two daughters-in-law, Ruth Wolverton and Evelyn Wolverton.
Pastors Charles Anderson and Troy Pearson will conduct a funeral service on Thursday, June 23, 2016 at 11 a.m. at the McMullen Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be held at 2 p.m. on Thursday at the Powder Springs Cemetery in Basye, Virginia.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday evening from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
