Ruby S. Dove Obituary (1917 - 2008)

Ruby S. Dove, 91 Linville Ruby Swank Dove, 91, a resident of 8079 Green Hill Road, Linville died October 8, 2008 at her home. Mrs. Dove was born on September 17, 1917, in Rockingham County and was the daughter of the late Louis and Effie Hopkins Swank. She spent her life in the Linville area where she worked as a beautician. She was an active member of the Donovan Memorial United Methodist Church where she had served as Sunday School Secretary, Trustee, sang in the church choir, and was active in the United Methodist Women. On September 17, 1939, she married John P. Dove who preceded her in death October 16, 1962. Surviving are her daughter, Susan Huffman and husband, Larry, Linville; one sister, Ava Gowl, Harrisonburg; grandchildren, Larry Huffman, Jr. and wife, Laura and Shari Payne and husband Craig; two great grandsons, Christopher Payne and Joshua Payne. Mrs. Dove was preceded in death by five sisters, Dorothy Swank, Lois Myers, Ruth Swank, Winifred Alvarez and Edna Rolston and three brothers, Glen Swank, Reuel Swank and Wilmer Swank. Rev. Robert W. Smith, Jr. will conduct a memorial service Saturday, October 11, 2008 at 11 a.m. at the Donovan Memorial United Methodist Church. A graveside service will be held earlier at 10 a.m. at the Singers Glen Cemetery. The family will receive friends following the memorial service at the church.
