"Gordon" Wenger, Jr., 88

Roy "Gordon" Wenger, Jr., 88, a resident of Harrisonburg, passed away on Wednesday, August 8, 2018 at Sentara RMH Medical Center.
Mr. Wenger was born on September 3, 1929 in Bucks County, Pennsylvania and was the son of the late Roy G. and Marian Rosenberger Wenger, Sr. He was a lifetime farmer, worked for Dairyman Specialty and the Virginia Mennonite Retirement Community where he worked in transportation. He was a member of Zion Hill Mennonite Church.
On December 4, 1952, he married the former Rhoda Showalter who survives.
Also surviving are his children, Robert G. Wenger and wife Lois of Rockingham, Emily W. Vandevander and husband Robert of Euclid, Ohio, Samuel L. Wenger and wife Esther of Rockingham, Roger E. Wenger and wife Esther of Middlebury, Indiana; brothers and sisters, Marie Kauffman of Harrisonburg, Esther McCoy and husband Bill of Manheim, Pennsylvania; Lois Rivera-Wenger of Staunton, J. Lowell Wenger and wife Janet of Harrisonburg; eight grandchildren, LaVonne Heatwole (Benjamin), Danae Amstutz (Aaron), Melissa Wenger, Rebekah Yoder (Brendan), Megan Bazan (Daniel), Ryan Wenger (Rebecca), Abigail Wenger, Amanda Wenger; and sixteen great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Wenger was preceded in death by a brother, Donald P. Wenger and two brothers-in-law, Mike Rivera and John Kauffman.
Pastor Lowell Haarer will conduct a memorial service on Sunday, August 19, 2018 at 3:00 p.m. at Cornerstone Church of Broadway. Burial will be held privately.
The family will receive friends prior to the service from 1:30 p.m. until 2:45 p.m. at the church.
The body was cremated and there will be no visitation or viewing at the funeral home.
