Robert Leroy Stover

Robert Leroy Stover, 82, a resident of Hinton, passed away on Saturday, August 6, 2016 at his home.
Mr. Stover was born on January 10, 1934 in Harrisonburg and was the son of the late Vernal Leroy and Dorothy Virginia Whitmer Stover. He was also preceded in death by a special aunt, Pearl Meade Stover. He served in the United States Army. His whole career was in the auto industry having retired from Stover Service Station. He attended the Salvation Army for over 50 years and also volunteered there. He loved people, his family and adored his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He enjoyed meeting with his special group of friends weekly at Hardees.
On December 31, 1956, he married the former Luella McDorman who preceded him in death on February 13, 2014.
Surviving are two children, Tony L. Stover and wife Deanna of Dayton, Lisa Hinegardner and husband David of Woodstock; a sister, Shirley Stover Miller and husband Norris of Bridgewater; three grandchildren, Chad Stover and wife Whitney, Brittni Stover Shiflet and husband Clay, all of Dayton, Breaunna "Brea" Hinegarder and fiance Matt Prokop of Minneapolis, MN; five great grandchildren, Carter Stover, Reid Stover, Kennedy Shiflet, Berkley Shiflet, Ellington Shiflet.
Mr. Stover was preceded in death by a brother and sister-in-law, Donald Stover and wife Dorothy.
Lt. Colonel Charles White and Major Hank Harwell will conduct a funeral service on Wednesday, August 10, 2016 at 1 p.m. at McMullen Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow at Clover Hill Cemetery with military rites by the Dayton American Legion Post 27.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday evening from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m.
