Rita Wrenn Yancey Obituary (1945

Rita Wrenn Yancey, 68, of Winston-Salem, NC passed on February 11, 2014. Rita was born on May 11, 1945 to the late Juanita Ruddle Wrenn and late Richard Paxton Wrenn. She was also preceded in death by her brother Don "Buck" Wrenn. All of Singers Glen, Va. She grew up in Singers Glen and was a member of Donovan Memorial United Methodist Church. She graduated from Broadway High School where she was a cheerleader and played in the band. Rita was a member of Joseph Ney's Deb-Council. She attended Wake Forest College, now Wake Forest University in Winston-Salem. Rita retired from Piedmont Airlines/US Airways after 25 years in reservations. She was a member of Centenary United Methodist Church where she taught Sunday school. She was also a docent at Reynolda House. Rita's greatest passion was traveling the world. She enjoyed many trips with family and dear friends. She also enjoyed decorating, painting and tending to flowers and plants. Rita is survived by her husband of 51 years Lee Franklin Yancey, her high school sweetheart. She is also survived by her daughter, Dana Yancey Brown and husband Steve, of Winston-Salem; her son, Richard Wrenn Yancey and wife Kara, of Lewisville, NC; her sister-in-law, Claire Moyer Wrenn, of Singers Glen; and three grandchildren, Ian Donovan Brown, Corey Paxton Brown of Winston-Salem and Walker Ashe Yancey of Lewisville. Services will be held at 2 pm on Sunday February 16th at McMullen Funeral Home, 5784 Greenmount Rd. Harrisonburg, Va. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to : Kate B.
