Phyllis Burruss Atchison Obituary (1925

Phyllis Paige Burruss Atchison, 92, a resident of Edom, passed away on Friday, September 28, 2018 at the home of her daughter. Mrs. Atchison was born on October 2, 1925 and was the daughter of the late Irvin Lloyd and Beulah "Boots" Terrell Burruss. She graduated from Linville Edom High School 1942, and later from the RMH School of Nursing. She worked for Rockingham Memorial Hospital and the Glick and Hotchkiss Clinic for many years. She was a member of Edom United Methodist Church and in later years had attended the Linville Congregational Christian Church. Mrs. Atchison was a lifetime resident of the Edom Community. On September 5, 1962, she married Karal Nelson Atchison, who passed away on March 17, 2009. Surviving is a daughter, Paige Burruss Atchison of Linville; a brother, William Terrell "W.T" Burruss and wife Shelby of Linville; a sister-in-law, Gail Atchison of Alabama; seven nieces and nephews; numerous great nieces, nephews and great-great nieces and nephews. Reverends Gerald Meeks and Mary Lock will conduct a graveside service on Wednesday, October 3, 2018 at 11 a.m. at Linville Cemetery. The casket will be closed. Friends are welcome to visit at the house of her daughter Paige, 7214 Harpine Highway, Linville on Tuesday at any time. Memorial contributions may be made to a rescue squad of your choice.
