Phoebe Lou (Lohr) Hoover Obituary (1938 - 2017)

Phoebe Lou (Lohr) Hoover, 78, of Linville, passed away on Sunday February 5, 2017 at her residence. Mrs. Hoover was born on August 10, 1938 in Rockingham County and was a daughter of the late Ralph William and Beulah Arlene (Wootten) Lohr. Her first job was at the Timberville Drug Store and then she worked as a record clerk for WSVA. She was also the Store Manager of the Hallmark Card Store and worked for Blue Ridge Florist in Downtown Harrisonburg for many years. Phoebe retired from TJ Maxx. In her free time she loved to be in her flowerbeds. She always said that she was closest to God while she was in her flowers. She also loved to decorate for the holidays and was very particular in the way it was done. Her latest passion was coloring with her colored pencils. She would color for hours and she kept them all in books to show. She loved her family and enjoyed spending time with the grandkids and her great grandkids. She was also a mom to many of the neighborhood kids and to her children's friends. There wasn't a day she didn't read her bible and speak of God's promises. On February 3, 1959 she married Gene Buel Hoover, who survives. In addition to her husband Mrs. Hoover is also survived by her children Cheryl Hoover McLaughlin and her fiance Tim Taylor of Waynesboro, Joseph Leland Hoover and special family friend Crystal Landes of Harrisonburg, Tamara Hoover Ott And Thomas of Timberville; Siblings, Jessie Long of Timberville, Joann Gilkerson and husband Griff of Bridgewater, Jean Andes of Bridgewater, Phyllis Wisman and husband David of Harrisonburg, Jack Lohr and wife Penny of Broadway; Grandchildren, Danielle Anee Raymond and husband Joshua W. Raymond, Andrew Baylor Hoover, Aaron Glenn Hoover, Austin Wilson Ott, Felicia Hoover Watts and husband Marcus Watts; Great-Grandchildren Sophia Grace and Caleb Samuel Raymond, Avery Lou and Anna Lynn Hoover. She was also preceded in death by her siblings, Marvin and Gilbert Lohr and Mary Spitzer. Funeral services will be held on Thursday February 9, 2017 at 11 AM at McMullen Funeral Home with Rev. Marlene Chandler officiating. Burial will follow at Linville Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 7 until 8 PM at the funeral home.
