Pauline O. Whetzel Obituary (1921 - 2009)

Pauline Opal Whetzel, 88 Harrisonburg Pauline O. Whetzel, 88, passed away, Wednesday April 22, 2009 at Crestwood, of the Virginia Mennonite Retirement Community where she had lived for the past five years. Mrs. Whetzel was born on February 18, 1921 in Rockingham County and was the daughter of the late George William and Lula Virginia Jones Sherfey. On July 9, 1938 she married Scott Beery Whetzel who preceded her in death on July 13, 1999. Surviving are one daughter, Wanda Barrick and husband Dale, Silver Spring, MD; one sister, Mildred F. Sherfey, Harrisonburg, one brother, Albert W. Sherfey, Harrisonburg; two grandsons, Andrew Barrick and wife Stacey and Todd Barrick and fiance Laura Gentry. Mrs. Whetzel was preceded in death by one sister, Louise Sprinkle and three brothers, Gilbert G. Sherfey, Charles C. Sherfey, and Everett L. Sherfey. Janet E. Whetzel will conduct a funeral service, Saturday, April 25, 2009 at, 11:00 a.m. at the McMullen Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow at Singers Glen Cemetery.
