Patty Stevenson

Patricia Ann “Patty” “Granny” Stevenson, 85, a resident of New Market, passed away on Tuesday, September 1, 2026 at her home.

Patty was born on June 21, 1941 in Oakland, Maryland and was a daughter of the late Jacob and Lucille James Holtschneider. She worked as a receptionist for James Madison University in the health center. She was an amazing lady and wonderful cook. Her greatest joy in life was being a mother and granny to her children and grandchildren. Patti dearly missed her two children, Kimberly and Jeff.

On December 11, 1988, she married William “Bill” Stevenson who survives.

Surviving in addition to her husband are her children, Terri Knicely and husband Harold, Billy Stevenson and wife Susan, Melissa Kim; son-in-law, Craig Mitchell; siblings, Sandra Gregory, Charles Holtschneider; grandchildren, Brandon Mitchell, Codie Mitchell and wife Jenna, Emma Kyger and husband Josh, Chad Knicely, Jordan Knicely, Megan Evans and husband Logan, Mason Kim, Lily Redding and husband Brady, Marcus Stevenson, Scott Stevenson and wife Karah; great-grandchildren, Paige, Liam, Soren, Cameron, Connor, Caitlyn, Harper, Henley, Lucy, Anna, and Ella.

In addition to her parents, Patty was preceded in death by two children, Jeff Smith, Kimberly Mitchell; and siblings, Alice Holtschneider and James Holtschneider.

Pastor Dan Horning will conduct a graveside service on Sunday, September 6, 2026 at 2:00 p.m. at Greenmount Cemetery. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 1:00 until 1:45 p.m. at the funeral home.

The casket will remain closed.
