Ottis Reynolds Obituary (1936 - 2018)

Ottis Reynolds, 81, a resident of Mayland, passed away peacefully in his home on Saturday, March 17, 2018. Mr. Reynolds was born on August 30, 1936 in Huntington, Indiana to the late Charlie Otto Reynolds and Ida Olive Self Reynolds. Ottis was raised on a farm in Waveland, Indiana. He served in the United States Navy from 1954 to 1962. He worked at R.R. Donnelley and Sons in Crawfordsville, Indiana until he transferred to Harrisonburg in 1980 as part of the plant start up team where he retired in 2000 with forty-three years of service. Ottis was a avid garden and antique tractor puller with his twin, Otto, son, Mike and wife Sue. He had lawn mower sales and repair business. Ottis was most at home working on his tractor. On November 24, 1988, he married the former Millie Irene "Sue" Conley who survives. Also surviving are his children, Michael Ottis Reynolds and wife Dottie of Timberville, Deborah Jean Reynolds Estep of Harrisonburg, Kathy Ann McDorman of Broadway, Randy Allan Pence and Trish Spitler of Broadway; siblings, Violet Flo "Vickie" Newell of Crawfordsville, IN, Bonnie Darlene Miller and husband Dave of Indianapolis, IN, Carol Ann Kaufman of Portland, OR, John Adrian Reynolds and wife Evelyn of Marshall, IN, Darrell Joe Reynolds and wife Van of Lafayette, IN; fourteen grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Rick Dale Pence, his twin brother Otto Reynolds, two sisters, Charlotte Faye Cope and Vera Lee Reynolds and a brother-in-law, Bill Newell. A funeral service will be conducted on Wednesday, March 21, 2018 at 2 PM at Gospel Hill Mennonite Church with Reverend Cliff Poirot officiating. Burial will follow at the church cemetery. The funeral service for Ottis Reynolds has been rescheduled for Friday, March 23, 2018 at 11 a.m. at Gospel Hill Mennonite Church due to inclement weather. The family will receive friends on Tuesday evening at the funeral home from 6 p.m. until 7 p.m. Friends may be begin calling at the funeral home on Monday afternoon at 12 p.m. During his decline in health over the past few years, Ottis' wife Sue never left his side. She cared for him to the last. Her dedication for her husband is unmatched and greatly appreciated by his family.
