Osie Ola Ziegler, 98, of Harrisonburg, passed away on April 9, 2017 at Showalter House of Virginia Mennonite Retirement Community.
Mrs. Ziegler was born on September 26, 1918 in Newport News, VA and was a daughter of the late Henry Peter and Anna (Shenk) Hertzler. Osie was a very talented Scrabble player and was a skilled quilter. She loved gardening and spending time outdoors, and enjoyed all four seasons of the year. Her faith was paramount in her life and she dedicated her life to serving her Lord. Mrs. Ziegler was also a gifted poet and had a book of her poems published.
On January 22, 1940 she married Ralph Wenger Ziegler who preceded her in death on September 26, 2002.
Osie is survived by three children, Donald Wesley Ziegler and wife Priscilla of Akron, PA, Audrey Joyce Ziegler and husband Tedrick Grandle of Mt. Crawford, Ralph Gordon Ziegler and wife Bertie of Mt. Joy, PA; one brother, Harry W. Hertzler of Mt. Pleasant Mills, PA; eight grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband and parents, Mrs. Ziegler is also preceded in death by two daughters, Helen Ziegler, Mildred Louise Ziegler; a grandson, Brian Wesley Ziegler, and eight brothers and sisters.
A Celebration of Osie's life will be held on April 22 at 11 am at Lindale Mennonite Church with Pastors Peg Eagle, Loren Horst, Dawn Monger and officiating. Her body was cremated.
Burial will be held at 10 AM at Lindale Mennonite Church prior to the service.
