Olin David Ritchie Obituary (1924 - 2016)

Olin D. Ritchie, 91 Olin David Ritchie, 91, a resident of Dayton, passed away on May 14, 2016 at Sentara RMH Medical Center. Mr. Ritchie was born on May 21, 1924 in Rockingham and was the son of the late George Samuel and Ollie Elvira Revercomb Ritchie. He was a dairy and poultry farmer and was known as the "Egg Man" to many. He served on the Shenandoah's Pride Board of Directors for many years and was a member of the Dayton United Methodist Church. On September 14, 1946 he married the former Margaret Elizabeth Cline who passed away on April 14, 2012. Surviving are four children, Linda Covington of Harrisonburg, Leon Ritchie and wife Peggy of Williamsburg, Alice Shewey and husband John of Buena Vista, Patricia Evans and husband Mark of Harrisonburg; three grandchildren, Heather Ritchie, Page Shewey, and Laura Shewey. In addition to his parents and wife, Mr. Ritchie was preceded in death by a son, Kenneth Ritchie; two brothers Rodney Ritchie, Roy Lee Ritchie and a grandson, Bryan Covington. Reverend Steve Bird will conduct a memorial service on Wednesday, May 18, 2016 at 2 p.m. at the Dayton United Methodist Church. The family will receive friends following the memorial service. Burial will be held privately at Mt. Horeb Cemetery.
