Nelson W. Adams Obituary (1928 - 2011)

Nelson W. Adams, 82 Harrisonburg Nelson William Adams, 82 died February 11, 2011 at Rockingham Memorial Hospital. Mr. Adams was born on October 14, 1928, in Rockingham County and was the son of the late Ora William and Sylvia Catherine Landes Adams. Mr. Adams graduated from Linville-Edom High School in 1946. He was a lifelong dairy farmer but often stated that ?his best crop was his children.? He served on various agriculture boards and served in many church positions. He was a pilot and enjoyed flying his airplane and was also proud of his restored 1941 pickup, ??Lil Red?. Mr. Adams was a member of the Harrisonburg First Church of the Brethren. On March 23, 1952, he married the former Nancy Leap who survives. Also surviving are four sons, Randall Adams, Gaithersburg, Maryland and wife Gail Unterberger; Don Adams and wife Frances; Glen Adams and wife Melissa; Bob Adams and wife Jackie all of Harrisonburg; two daughters, Linda Buchanan and husband Barry, Ferrum, VA; Cindy Pennington and husband Tim; Fulks Run; one brother, Gene O. Adams, twelve grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. Preceded in death by two sisters, Lucille Lamb and Charlotte Sciota. Dr. Ron Wyrick will conduct a memorial service Monday, February 14, 2011 at 6:30p.m. at the Harrisonburg First Church of the Brethren. Burial will be private.
