Nancy Lee Whitmer

Nancy Lee Whitmer, 88, a resident of Bridgewater, passed away on Friday, May 27, 2016.
Mrs. Whitmer was born on December 29, 1927 in Rockingham County and was the daughter of the late C. Russel and Ruth Myre Andrews Davis. Nancy worked for Metro Pants for 34 years as a seamstress and later as a supervisor over the sewing line. She was a member of Freedom Baptist Church and enjoyed her Bible and studies at Bridgewater home where she resided. Nancy loved to crochet and made many of colorful afghans she gave to many people she loved.
On September 11, 1946, she married Warren Louis Whitmer who preceded in her in death on June 4, 2006.
Surviving are two children, Gary Louis Whitmer and wife Patty of Bridgewater, Barbara Ann OConner and husband James of Lexington, South Carolina; one brother, Olson Davis; two grandchildren, Patrick R. OConner and wife Alice, Elizabeth Marie Michael and husband Ronnie; three great grandchildren, Lorelei, Weston and Hannah OConner.
In addition to her parents and husband, Nancy was preceded in death by one sister, Janet Irene Davis and two brothers, Charley G. Davis and Robert Davis.
A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, June 1, 2016 at 2 p.m. at Singers Glen Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at McMullen Funeral Home on Tuesday evening from 7 p.m. until 8 p.m.
