Marion R. May Obituary (1928 - 2013)

Marion R. May, 84 Marion Raymond May, 84, a resident of Harrisonburg, passed away on Friday, July 12, 2013 at his home, Mr. May was born on December 24, 1928 in Rockingham County and was the son of the late Arnold and Hannah Showalter May. He was a farmer, and the owner and operator of Marion May Trucking which eventually became Eagle Express Trucking. He was a member of the Elks Lodge for 50 years, and was a lifetime member of the Valley Saddle Club. On May 1, 1954, he married the former Hilda Mitchell who survives. Also surviving are his children, Teresa Reid and husband Bill and Gloria Kennedy and husband Ron all of Harrisonburg; Rebecca Houff and fiance Joe Coffman of Keezletown; a sister, Louise Gilkerson, of Linville; and three grandchildren Kristen Reid, Justin Reid, and Brandon Houff. In addition to his parents, Mr. May was preceded in death by his brother and sister-in-law, Lawrence and Betty May; and a brother-in-law, Carlos Gilkerson. Wendell "Sonny" Henkel will conduct a funeral service on Monday, July 15, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at McMullen Funeral Home. Burial will be held privately following the service. The family will receive friends on Sunday evening at McMullen Funeral Home from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to the Big Brothers/Big Sisters, 225 N.
