Louise Rebecca "Grandma Jim" Ritchie Obituary (1927 - 2017)

Louise Rebecca "Grandma Jim" Ritchie, 89, of Broadway, passed away on Tuesday October 3, 2017 at her residence. Mrs. Ritchie was born on October 9, 1927 in Linville and was a daughter of the late Ernest Benjamin and Edna Pearl (Pence) Frank. She was a homemaker. Louise enjoyed canning, cooking, and tending to her gardens. She loved spending time with kids and taking trips to the mountains. On March 13, 1947 she married Charles Evert Ritchie who preceded her in death on January 25, 2001. She is survived by her children, Charles Ritchie Jr., Robert Ritchie and wife Rita, Gloria Crider and husband Fred, Sandra Simmers, Joyce Ritchie and husband Stephen, all of Broadway, Sharon Cuellar and husband Tony of Yuma, AZ; five sisters, Roxie Fulk, Catherine McDorman, Ruby Hassler, Virginia "Sissy" Stroop, Carolyn Terry; three brothers, Richard "Pete" Frank, Charles Frank, Gary Frank; eleven grandchildren; thirty one great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband and parents, Louise was also preceded in death by a son, Ronald Ritchie; a sister, Reba Shipp; two brothers, Leonard Frank, Ernest Frank, and a son-in-law, Roger Simmers. The funeral service will be held on Saturday October 7, 2017 at 11 AM at the Chapel of McMullen Funeral Home with Pastor Kevin Gerber officiating. Burial will follow at the Mt. Zion Cemetery. There will be no formal visitation at the funeral home, however friends may call from noon until 5 PM on Thursday, and 9 until 7 PM on Friday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Sentara RMH Hospice, 2010 Health Campus Drive, Harrisonburg, VA 22801.
