Lila Collins

Lila Irene Basinger Collins, 88, a resident of Harrisonburg, passed away on Friday, February 28, 2025, at her home.

Mrs. Collins was born on December 16, 1936, in Kidron, Ohio, to the late David William and Ella May Zurcher Basinger. After graduating from EMHS, she worked for 36 years as a typist at Eastern Mennonite University. She was a member of Lindale Mennonite Church.

On August 25, 1956, she married John Edward “Ed” Collins, who preceded her in death on May 11, 2023.

Mrs. Collins is survived by her daughter, Nancy Dean, of New Mexico; son-in-law, Bill Dean; grandson, William Dean; and her brother, Clair Basinger.
In addition to her parents and husband, Mrs. Collins was preceded in death by her siblings, Elva Hartzler, Dale Basinger, Lloyd Basinger, and Orris Basinger.

A memorial service celebrating her life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 15, 2025, at Lindale Mennonite Church.
