Johnny Alan Dove Obituary (1955 - 2015)

Johnny A. Dove, 59 Hinton Johnny Alan Dove, 59, of Hinton passed away January 20, 2015 at his home after a lengthy illness. Mr. Dove was born April 10, 1955 in Rockingham County and was the son of the late Charley Warren and Bernice Hummel Dove. Johnny's faith was very important to him: in his teens he was active in Mt. Horeb United Methodist Church and became a licensed minister, and continued his walk with God through his entire life. Johnny graduated from James Madison University in 1978. He was a loving father to his two children, Jennifer Dove Coppola and Nicholas Magai Dove, who survive. Johnny worked at the Daily News Record as a pressman for 17 years. He had a great love for music, poetry, history, and literature. Johnny was a prolific poet and was featured in the Shenandoah Journal. In addition to his children, Johnny is survived by three brothers, Jerry Dove and wife Zella of Churchville; Larry Dove and wife Judith of Murchison, TX; Kenny Dove of Charlottesville and many nieces and nephews. Johnny was blessed to have a network of loving and supportive friends including Billy Mouri and Jan Riddleberger. A memorial service will be held Saturday, January 24, 2015 at McMullen Funeral Home Chapel at 6:30 p.m. The family will receive friends following the service at the funeral home.
