John Maddox

John Matthew Maddox, 75, a resident of Harrisonburg, passed away on Thursday, March 6, 2025 at Sentara RMH Medical Center.

Mr. Maddox was born on February 28, 1950 in Leesburg, Virginia and was a son of the late James Maddox Sr. and Dorothy Schulke Maddox. He worked as a truck driver his entire life until his retirement. An avid musician, he played guitar in many local bands. He loved trail riding, motorcycles and spending time with his beloved family and grandchildren.

On February 28, 1970, he married Barbara Diane Edwards Maddox who passed away on June 13, 2021.

Surviving are his children, Keith Maddox and wife Samantha, Shelby Maddox and fiancé Anthony Cline; sister, Patricia Darby; and niece, Donna Darby; grandchildren, Anelise Kite, Colten Kite, Liam Cline, Sev Maddox, Amber Hoover; his brother-in-law, David Edwards; and numerous extended family members.

In addition to his wife and parents, Mr. Maddox was preceded in death by his granddaughter, Stephanie Hoover.

Following cremation, there will be no formal services.
