Janetta V. Byerly Borel Obituary (1942

Janetta Virginia Byerly Borel, 75, a resident of Harrisonburg, passed away on Friday, March 9, 2018 at Bridgewater Retirement Community. Mrs. Byerly-Borel was born on November 5, 1942 in Harrisonburg and was the daughter of the late John Franklin and Virginia Frances Smith Byerly. She served in the United States Air Force from 1963-1965 as an air traffic controller. She was a avid gardener and a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. On June 17, 1965 she married William Lynn Borel who preceded her in death on March 15, 2012. Surviving are two children, Colonel (Retired) William Lynn Borel and wife Michele Bush Borel of Hahnville, Louisiana, Virginia Christina "Crissy" Borel Damerell and husband Russell Lyn Damerell of Lake Charles, Louisiana; a sister, Arnetta Armstrong and husband I.J. of Harrisonburg; grandchildren, Joseph Groves, Cassandra Groves, Madelyn Borel, Claire Borel, Jenna Borel; a great-grandchild, Emileigh Lynn Groves; two sisters-in-law, Evelyn Byerly of Richmond and Georgia Lee Byerly of Bridgewater. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two brothers, John Franklin, Jr. Oliver Lynwood Byerly; a sister, Ethel Ludholtz. A funeral service will be held on Friday, March 16, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church with Father Silvio Kaberia officiating. Burial will follow at St. John Cemetery in Singers Glen. At her request, the body was cremated.
