J. Steven "Steve" Landes Obituary (1946 - 2018)

Mr. Landes was born on May 20, 1946 in Pendleton County, WV and was a son of the late Amby Sylvester Landes and Donna (Thompson) Landes Casidy. Steve worked in the tire business for many years for Douglas Pearce Tire and Big L. Tire and also owned and operated Steve's Wholesale Tire for over 40 years. Steve also drove the Mobile Mammogram for Sentara RMH. Mr. Landes coached Linville Farm and Little League baseball, enjoyed hunting and fishing, drag racing and also worked as a farmer. On June 24, 1966 he married the former Lois Ritchie who survives. In addition to his wife, Steve is survived by his sons, Steven Landes, Kevin Landes and wife Tina; daughter, Cindy Atkins and husband Jesse Lee, all of Linville; sisters, Jo Ann Landes-Ross and husband Siggy of Florida, Norma Jean Clark of Linville; grandchildren, Timmy Landes and wife Katie, Nichole Landes, Natasha Atkins, Samantha Atkins, Justin Atkins, Destiny Lawrence and husband Brandon, Brittany Ford, Stephanie Landes, Trever Landes, Jacklynn Landes, Savannah Landes; great-grandchildren, Riley Landes, Zion Delgado, Shanyia Lawrence, RaeLee Lawrence, Dakota Lawrence; mother-in-law, Frances Ritchie; brother-in-law, Hollis Roberts; sister-in-law, Judy Higgs; and numerous nieces and nephews. Steve was also preceded in death by a brother, Jimmie S. Landes Sr.; stepfather, Boward Casidy; brother-in-law, Edward Clark; father-in-law, Maurice Ritchie; sister-in-law, Phyllis Roberts; brother-in-law, Gary Higgs. The funeral service will be held on Saturday, November 17, 2018 at 11 AM at the Chapel of McMullen Funeral Home. Burial will follow at the Linville Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Friday evening from 6 until 8 PM at the funeral home. Those desiring to view the body and sign the register book may do so beginning 9 am Friday.
