Gleda Belcher Wilfong Obituary (1946

Gleda Belcher Wilfong, 77, passed away on Sunday, February 11, 2024 at her home. Mrs. Wilfong was born on July 2, 1946 in Mouthcard, Kentucky and was the daughter of the late Edsel Blecher and Mildred Slone Belcher McNutt. She graduated from the RMH School of Nursing and worked there for many years as an operating room nurse. She enjoyed cross stich, making baby quilts, photography, and was collector of all things. She was an avid Star Trek Fan and considered herself a "Trekkie." She was a member of Muhlenberg Lutheran Church. On August 28, 1976, she married R. Stephen Wilfong who survives. Also surviving are her children, Melissa Vencill of Tennessee, Lisa Selfe of Tennessee, Teresa S. Kane of Bedford, Cory J. Wilfong and wife Becky of Virginia Beach, Jeremy S. Wilfong and wife April of Fletcher, Oklahoma; grandchildren, Chrisman Lewis, Zack Lewis, Branden Condy, Jaimie Wilfong, Dylan Wilfong, Justin Wilfong, Law Werbinski III, Kayla Swart; and numerous great-grandchildren. Pastor Lauren Eanes will conduct a memorial service on Saturday, March 2, 2024 at 11 a.m. at the McMullen Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow at Greenmount Cemetery. A recording of the service may be viewed here. Following the committal service, friends and family are welcome to join the family at Muhlenberg Lutheran Church Activities Center for a light meal. At her request, the body was cremated. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Dayton American Legion Post 27, 3021 John Wayland Highway, Dayton, VA 22821.
