Gladys Harman Obituary (1928 - 2015)

Gladys Shank Harman, 86 Harrisonburg Gladys Shank Harman, 86, passed away January 6, 2015 at Rockingham Memorial Hospital where she had been a patient. Mrs. Harman was born on December 2, 1928 in Rockingham County and was the daughter of the late Wilmer Paul Sr. and Mary Valand Rhodes Shank. She graduated from Mount Clinton High School and later the RMH School of Nursing in 1956. She worked in labor and delivery at Rockingham Memorial Hospital. She was a homemaker and loving wife, mother and grandmother. Mrs. Harman was a member of Zion Hill Mennonite Church. On May 15, 1957, she married Merlin D. Harman who survives. Also surviving are a son, Keith Harman and wife Diann, Harrisonburg; Cynthia Shank and husband John, Mt. Solon; Susan Smith and husband Dale, Harrisonburg; one sister, Mabellee Blosser, VMRC, three brothers, Norman Shank, Harrisonburg, Rawley Shank Harrisonburg and Wilmer P. Shank, Jr. Fort Seybert, WV; seven grandchildren, Christina Harman, Natalie Shafer and husband Jeff; Kurtis Shank, Weston Shank, Nicholas Shank, Michaela Smith and Kenan Smith; one great grandson, Theodore "Teddy" Shafer. Two special family friends Lisa Shoemaker and Gretchen Baugher. Preceded in death by one brother, Floyd Shank. Pastor Lowell Haarer will conduct a memorial service, Friday, January 9, 2015 at 11a.m. at Weavers Mennonite Church. Burial will be private. The family will receive friends Thursday evening from 6p.m. until 8p.m. at the McMullen Funeral Home, Harrisonburg.
