Geneva Myers Craun, 93 passed away January 7, 2013 at Avante Nursing Home.
Mrs. Craun was born on August 22, 1919 in Rockingham County and was a daughter of the late Luther Amos and Lenora Forbes Myers. She was raised in the Linville area and graduated from Linville-Edom High School. She worked at J.C. Penney's, Joseph Neys, and retired from Leggett's/Belk at the age of 80. Mrs. Craun enjoyed taking pictures, bird watching, working with her flowers, and gardening. She was a member of the Bridgewater Church of the Brethren and later attended Mount Crawford United Methodist Church.
On February 16, 1947, she married Carl Edgar Craun who preceded her in death February 2, 1972.
Surviving are a daughter, Connie Keatts and husband Larry of Harrisonburg; two sisters, Thelma Craun, Nancy Wright both of Harrisonburg and a brother Gerald Myers, and Julie of Port Republic; one grandson, Scott Barnes Yelverton and wife Danielle; two great grand children, Scott Barnes Yelverton II and Reina Elizabeth Yelverton; a brother-in-law, Earl Frazier of Crozet, as well as a number of nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Craun was preceded in death by two brothers, Russell Myers and wife Jean, R.S. Date Myers and wife Virginia "Tootie" Myers; three sisters, Marie Reisenberg and husband Al, Dorothy Frazier, Eunice Dean and husband J.R., a brother-in-law, Charles Dewitt Craun and twin girls who died shortly after birth.
Reverend Jeff Carr will conduct a funeral service at the Bridgewater Church of the Brethren on Thursday, January 10, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. Burial will follow at Oak Lawn Cemetery in Bridgewater.
The family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m on Thursday prior to the service.
