Everette Flick Harrison Jr., affectionately known to family and friends as “E.F.”, passed away peacefully at his home in Stanley, Virginia, on July 8, 2026 at the age of 72. He was surrounded by the love of his life, wife, Janet, his devoted son, Chip and loving caregiver, Ellie Jerrells.
EF was born on January 31, 1954 in Harrisonburg, Virginia to Everette Flick Harrison, know as “Shine”, and Evalene Sheila Pence Harrison. He spent most of his life in Keezletown, Virginia, before making his home with his son and family in Stanley.
On his birthday, January 31, 1981, EF married his devoted love, Janet Marie Layman. They had one son, Everette Flick Harrison III, “Chip.”
EF was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Linda “Sue” Harrison Hanger.
He is survived by his devoted wife of 45 years, Janet Layman Harrison; his dedicated and loving son, Everette Flick Harrison III “Chip”; his sister Fay Harrison Seal and her husband, Larry Seal of Harrisonburg; and his four beloved grandchildren, Isaac Harrison, Anna Harrison, Rosalynn Harrison, and Elijah Harrison, all of whom brought him tremendous pride and joy.
Early in life, EF worked as a farmer. He later dedicated 37 years of service to Riddleberger Brothers before retiring.
Anyone who knew EF knew where his heart truly was. He loved hunting and fishing and found great satisfaction in working in his garden growing vegetables, processing and canning. He appreciated the outdoors, valued hard work, and found happiness in the simple things in life. EF was never a man of many words but his quiet strength, steady presence, and love for his family will deeply be missed by all who knew him.
Those who knew EF also know that he would have hated the idea of everyone dressing up and attending a formal funeral service. In keeping with his wishes and in honor of the man he was, there will be no funeral service.
Family and friends who wish to visit, share memories, and offer their condolences are welcome to do so at the family’s home, 635 Riverside Drive, Stanley, Virginia.
Though his absence leaves an immeasurable void, the memories he created, the values he lived by, and the love he gave his family will remain with them always.
