Ellen Zimmerman

Ellen Rebecca Wenger Zimmerman, 83, of 5304 Triple Z Drive, Dayton, VA, passed away on Sunday, August 2, 2026, at her home.

Mrs. Zimmerman was born on January 2, 1943, to the late Paul Rhodes and Hazel Charlene Rohrer Wenger. She was a homemaker and a member of Pleasant View Old Order Mennonite Church.

On October 1, 1964, she married Harvey Nolt Zimmerman, who passed away on April 11, 2005.

Surviving are her four sons, Paul and wife Faye Lynn, Jeffrey and wife Marie, Sam and wife Elaine, Michael and wife Tracy, all of Dayton; three daughters, Sharon and husband Norlyn Wenger, Emily and husband Mark Shank, both of Bridgewater, Lydia and husband Christian Beery, of Dayton; one sister, Neva Horst and husband Daniel H. of Dayton; 47 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband and parents, Mrs. Zimmerman was preceded in death by three grandchildren.

The ministers of the church will conduct the funeral service at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, August 6, 2026, at Riverdale Old Order Mennonite Church. Burial will follow at the church cemetery.

Visitation will be held at the home of Lydia & Christian Beery on Triple Z Drive in Dayton, VA, from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, August 4, and from 10:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, August 5, with respect to 12:00 p.m. and 5:00 p.m. mealtimes.
