Dwight Shank Rohrer Obituary (1936 - 2013)

Dwight S. Rohrer, 76 Dayton Dwight Shank Rohrer, 76, died September 1, 2013 at Rockingham Memorial Hospital. He was born on September 11, 1936, and was the son of the late Marvin Daniel and Reba Catherine Shank Rohrer and the step son of the late Ethel Knicely Rohrer. After the death of his mother, he was raised by his Aunt Mary Rohrer. He worked for C.L. Custer, and worked in agriculture as a poultry and dairy farmer. After retirement, he worked at the Harrisonburg Auto Auction. He was member of the Rawley Springs Mennonite Church where he served as a deacon. He also served in other capacities in the Southeastern Mennonite Conference. On September 11, 1955, he married the former Louise Martin who survives. Also surviving are children, Linden Rohrer and wife Ondray, Dayton; Clifford Rohrer, Bridgewater; Jerry Rohrer and wife Mary, Culpeper; Richard Rohrer and wife Brenda, Hinton; and Kathy Rohrer, Bridgewater and special friend Bryan High, Edinburg ; one sister, Mildred Wenger, Dayton; seventeen grandchildren and ten great grandchildren. Mr. Rohrer was also preceded in death by an infant sister. Ministers of the church will conduct a funeral service Wednesday morning, September 4, 2013 at 10:30a.m. at Bank Mennonite Church. Burial will follow at the church cemetery. The family will receive friends Tuesday from 2p.m. until 4p.m. and from 6p.m. until 8p.m. at the Bank Mennonite Church.
