Dorman S. "Mitch" Mitchell Obituary (1929 - 2017)

Dorman S. "Mitch" Mitchell, 87 Dorman Sylvester "Mitch" Mitchell, 87, a resident of Harrisonburg, passed away on Tuesday, April 11, 2017 at his home. Mr. Mitchell was born on August 26, 1929 in Kline, West Virginia and was the son of the late Russell Phillip and Myrtle Mae Kile Mitchell. After retiring in 1992, he traveled the country with his wife visiting 48 states. He enjoyed, camping, hunting and fishing. On June 3, 1972, he married the former Shirley Simmons who survives. Also surviving are his children, Barbara Edwards of Harrisonburg, Brenda Mitchell Wilkins of Harrisonburg, Sue Propst Clark and husband Richard of Oklahoma, Gary Mitchell and wife Barbara of McGaheysville, a step-daughter, Betty Fauls of Harrisonburg; one sister, Ruby Stallings and husband Thomas of Tarpon Springs, Florida; numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren. In addition to his parents, Mr. Mitchell was preceded in death by two sons, Harold Mitchell and David Mitchell. Pastor Bill Gearhart will conduct a funeral service on Saturday, April 15, 2017 at 2 p.m. at the McMullen Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow at Rest Haven Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends on Friday evening from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Harrisonburg Rescue Squad, Inc.
