Donnie Wayne Smith Obituary (1939 - 2017)

Donnie Wayne Smith Hinton Donnie Wayne Smith, 77, of Hinton, passed away on Thursday April 20, 2017 at Harrisonburg Health and Rehabilitation Center. Mr. Smith was born on August 2, 1939 in Rawley Springs and was a son of the late Russell Edward and Tenie May (Eye) Smith. Donnie worked as an equipment operator for Neff Lumber Mills for 25 years and later for Frazier Quarry for 15 years. On December 24, 1959 he married the former Nancy Scott who survives. In addition to his wife, Mr. Smith is survived by his children, Annette S. Hooke and husband James of Port Republic, Donald W. Smith Jr., and wife Dawn of Hinton; two grandchildren Dustin and Dana Smith; sisters and brothers-in-law, Dorothy Smith, Frances Smith, Vernon Eugene Scott, Thelma Shifflett, Carolyn Eye; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was also preceded in death by four brothers William, Ulis, Rudolph and Winston Smith. A graveside service will be held privately at the Rawley Springs Cemetery. The memorial service will be held on Tuesday April 25, 2017 at 7 PM at the Mt. Olive Presbyterian Church with Wendell "Sonny" Henkel and Pastor Stacy Meyerhoeffer officiating. There will be no formal visitation at the funeral home, however the family will receive friends at any time at the home. The casket will remain closed.
