Donald Keith Wolverton

Donald K. Wolverton, 64 Donald Keith Wolverton, 64, a resident of Linville, passed away on July 16, 2012 at Avante Nursing Home. Mr. Wolverton was born on September 21, 1947 in Rockingham County and was the son of Ruby Stidley Wolverton of Harrisonburg and the late Paul F. Wolverton. In early years he worked for Pleckers Florist and the Daily News Record. He worked for Graham Packaging (formerly Owens Brockway) from which he retired after forty one years due to his declining health. He also volunteered for the Gift & Thrift and the Friendship Home Store following his retirement from Graham Packaging. Mr. Wolverton was a charter member of the Singers Glen Volunteer Fire Company from 1994 until present. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and the outdoors. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He was a member of the Greenmount Church of the Brethren where he ushered and helped with children?s Sunday school. On June 11, 1971, he married the former Janet Morris who survives. Also surviving are two children, Dennis K. Wolverton of Linville and companion Melody Hayes of Staunton; Dawn W. Lyndaker and husband Brent of Stuarts Draft; brothers and sisters, Fred Wolverton of Buckeye Lake, Ohio; Stephen Wolverton and wife Evelyn of Macon, Georgia; Dora Ann Fulk and husband Junior of Harrisonburg; Ronald Wolverton and wife Janet of Grottoes; two special grandsons, Trevor Joel Lyndaker and Aidan Chase Lyndaker; and numerous uncles, aunts, and nieces and nephews. Mr. Wolverton was preceded in death by his father and mother-in-law, Julian and Goldie Morris, and a sister-in-law, Ruth Wolverton. Pastor Ken Dolan will conduct a funeral service on Thursday, July 19, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at the Greenmount Church of the Brethren. Burial will follow at Greenmount Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Wednesday evening from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the McMullen Funeral Home.
