Delaney Hopkins

Delaney Lee Hopkins, 74, a resident of Rockingham, passed away on Sunday, February 8, 2026 at Sentara RMH Medical Center.

Mr. Hopkins was born on January 23, 1952 in Rockingham County and was a son of the late William Howard and Vivian Byerly Hopkins. Delaney retired from James Madison University where he worked in the registrar’s office and book store. He was an avid antique car enthusiast and devoted member of Victory Fellowship Church.

On August 28, 1971, he married Brenda Carol Kendall Hopkins who survives.

In addition to his parents, Delaney was preceded in death by his siblings, Shirley Jean Hopkins Showalter, William “Billy” Hopkins, and Garold Wayne Hopkins.

Brenda wishes to thank his niece Suzanne Bowman and her husband Sam for their constant help and dedication to Delaney.

A memorial service will be held on Friday, February 13, 2026 at 11 a.m. at Victory Fellowship Church with Wendell “Sonny” Henkel and Pastor Tim McAvoy officiating.

There will be no viewing or visitation at the funeral home. Burial will be held privately.
