Deborah Kaye (Wilfong) Custer Obituary (1952 - 2017)

Deborah Kaye (Wilfong) Custer, 64, a resident of Fort Defiance, passed away on Sunday, June 4, 2017 at Envoy of Staunton. Mrs. Custer was born on December 14, 1952 in Harrisonburg, and was the daughter of the late Arthur Herbert and Lena Frances Smith Wilfong. She was a homemaker who loved Elvis, Conway Twitty, reading, cooking, and spending time with her family. On June 12, 1970, she married Meredith Jay Custer who survives. Also surviving are her children, Joshua Custer of Washington, D.C., Ashley Hearl and husband Scott of Fort Defiance; siblings, Loretta Simmers and husband Roy of Mt. Crawford; Dorothy "Dottie" Custer of Mt. Clinton, Sue Boone of Harrisonburg, Jane Beach and husband John of Harrisonburg, Cyndi Smith and husband Buck of Bridgewater; three grandchildren, Brooke Custer, Callie Custer, Eli Ryman; and a number of nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Custer was preceded in death by a sister, Betty Glick. Rev. Paul "Jim" Rodgers, Jr. will conduct a memorial service on Friday afternoon, June 9, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. at the McMullen Funeral Home Chapel. At her request, the body was cremated.
