Darhl Allen Botkin

Darhl Allen "Peewee" Botkin, 76, a resident of Mt. Crawford passed away on Saturday, May 16, 2015 at his home.
Mr. Botkin was born on October 19, 1938 in Highland County and was the son of the late Lloyd Fletcher and Ressie Virginia (Puffenbarger) Botkin. He was employed as a grinder for Waynesboro Grinding Plant. In his spare time, he enjoyed deep sea fishing, riding his scooter and watching NASCAR.
On December 24, 1957, he married the former Ruth Rodgers who preceded him in death on August 9, 2001.
Surviving are his five children, Rick Botkin of McGaheysville; Cindy Judy and husband Jim of Timberville; Dana Knight and husband Timmy of Bridgewater; Lisa Botkin of McGaheysville; Dena Greene and husband Cecil of Stanley; brothers and sisters, Stanley Botkin, Frances Lerdahl, Myrtle Washington, Kitty Coffey, Janet Nance; eleven grandchildren Brad Judy, Jennifer Whetzel, Carrie Judy, Cody Botkin, T.J. Knight, Darhyl Knight Rachel Knight, Cory Greene,Emily Greene, Bud Greene, Heather Greene; six great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his wife, Mr. Botkin was preceded in death by four brothers, Lee, Leo, Vernon and Bobby Botkin.
Reverend Tony Martin will conduct a funeral service on Wednesday, May 20, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at McMullen Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Linville Creek Cemetery. The family requests those in attendance dress casually for the funeral.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday evening from 7:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Sentara RMH Hospice, 2011 Health Campus Drive, Harrisonburg, Virginia 22801.
