Dan "Boone" Jacob Beard Obituary (1931

Dan "Boone" J. Beard, 86, Harrisonburg, passed away March 26, 2018 at his home. Mr. Beard was born on April 7, 1931 in Rockingham County and was the son of the late Joseph Owen and Pauline Fawley Beard. He was a lifelong, hardworking dairy and poultry farmer. He served on the Board of Directors for the Valley of Virginia Cooperative Milk Producers Association for 20 years. He was preceded in death by his wife, Ann Beard who died October 17, 2009. Surviving are a daughter, Sue O' Byrne and husband Frank, Harrisonburg; a sister, Priscilla Blosser-Rainey, Timberville, a son-in-law, Jay Moyers, Harrisonburg, five grandchildren, Whitney Kyger, Josh Moyers, Zach Beard, Jacie Kyger and Sarah Moyers, two great granddaughters, Katie Moyers and Paige Cleaver. In addition to his wife he was preceded in death by four children, Steve Beard and Johnny Beard, Barbara Moyers and Betsy Beard, a sister, Mary Mehegan, a brother, Joe Beard, a grandson, Jarrett Kyger. Pastor Bradley Kolb will conduct a graveside service Thursday morning at 11a.m. at Lindale Church Cemetery. There will be no formal visitation and the casket will remain closed.
