Claude F. Hummel

Claude F. Hummel, 97 Harrisonburg Claude F. Hummel, 97, Harrisonburg died August 10, 2011 at Oak Lea Nursing Home. Mr. Hummel was born on February 2, 1914, in Rockingham County and was the son of the late Artie Hummel. He graduated from Linville-Edom High School in 1934. He worked at the Farm Bureau and was a farmer. He retired from James Madison University in 1976. Mr. Hummel was a member of the Donovan Memorial United Methodist Church. On February 22, 1942, he married the former Opal VanPelt who preceded him in death June 19, 1993. Surviving are a sister, Faye Senses, Bridgewater; nieces and nephews, Winifred McConnell, Mary Ellen Gerald, Marie Yauss and Jack Puffenbarger a number of great nieces and nephews and Leonard Moyers and wife Jane whom he thought of as a son. Reverend Jim Radford will conduct a graveside service August 12, 2011 at 10a.m. at the Singers Glen Cemetery.
