Clarence "Gene" Whetzel Obituary (1950 - 2014)

Clarence "Gene" Whetzel, 63 Clarence "Gene" Whetzel, 63, a resident of Clover Hill, passed away on Friday, July 25, 2014. Mr. Whetzel was born September 9, 1950 in Rockingham County and was the son of the late Edward Hiner and Icie Jane Hinkle Whetzel. He was a self-employed painter. He was a member of the Valley CB'ers Club in which he used the handle name "Honey Run". He was also a member of the Amvets #7 and Eagles Aerie #4150. He is survived by his companion of 39 years, Dixie Arbogast; two brothers, Chester Whetzel and wife Almeda; Carl E. Whetzel and wife Marcie of Tennessee; and numerous nieces and nephews. Along with his parents, Mr. Whetzel was preceded in death by three brothers, Curtis Whetzel, Cletus Whetzel and Vernon Whetzel. The Reverend Dr. Stephen D. Hay will conduct a graveside service on Monday, July 28, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at Clover Hill Cemetery.
