Carl Franklin Thompson, Sr. Obituary (1919 - 2012)

Carl F. Thompson, Sr. Carl Franklin Thompson, Sr., 93, a resident of Harrisonburg, passed away on Tuesday, December 25, 2012. Mr. Thompson was born on October 2, 1919 in Osborn, Missouri and was the son of the late Benjamin and Florence Schleicher Thompson. He served in the United States Navy during World War II and later worked for the Department of Defense from which he retired in 1973. He enjoyed carpentry and playing golf. Mr. Thompson was a member of the Singers Glen Ruritan Club and the Donovan Memorial United Methodist Church in Singers Glen. On June 5, 1942 he married the former Priscilla Taylor who survives. Also surviving are two sons, Carl F. Thompson, Jr. and wife Patricia of Annandale, Virginia; Randal Thompson and wife Deborah of Cross Junction, Virginia; three grandchildren, Janelle Caplan, Kimberly Panay, Seth Thompson; and four great grandchildren. Mr. Thompson was preceded in death by two brothers, Harold Thompson and Wallace Thompson. Reverend John R. Martin will conduct a funeral service at the McMullen Funeral Home Chapel on Sunday, December 30, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. A private burial will be held at Cedar Hill Cemetery in Suitland, Maryland.
