Beulah Evangeline Payne Obituary (1925 - 2017)

Beulah E. Payne, 92 Beulah Evangeline Simmons Payne, 92, a resident of Harrisonburg, formerly of Bridgewater, passed away on July 9, 2017 at Life Care Center of New Market. Mrs. Payne was born on March 4, 1925 in Rockingham County and was the daughter of the late Frank E. and Verdie Wenger Simmons. She worked at Metro Pants for number of years and also owned the Antiques and Things Shop in Bridgewater. She was a member of the Bridgewater Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary and the Bridgewater Baptist Church. On July 3, 1943, she married Paul William Payne who passed away on November 8, 2003. Surviving is a daughter, Linda Nelson and husband Roger of Harrisonburg; a son, Phillip W. Payne and wife Sherry of Dallas, Georgia; a brother, Carl Simmons of Wilcox, Arizona; three grandchildren; five great grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren. In addition to her husband, Mrs. Payne was preceded in death by two sons, Paul S. Payne, Jerry L. Payne; two sisters and two brothers. Reverend Roger Austin will conduct a funeral service on Friday, July 14, 2017 at the McMullen Funeral Home Chapel at 11 a.m. Burial will follow at Greenmount Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Thursday evening at the funeral home from 7 p.m. until 8 p.m. Friends may begin calling at the funeral home on Thursday morning at 9 a.m. Memorial contributions may be made to the Bridgewater Baptist Church, PO Box 333, Bridgewater, Virginia 22812.
