Archie L. Bontrager, 96

Archie Leroy Bontrager, 96, a resident of Harrisonburg, passed away on Tuesday, December 16, 2014.
Mr. Bontrager was born on February 23, 1918, in Midland, Michigan and was the son of the late Ray Eli and Artie Yoder Bontrager. He was a self-employed carpenter who also enjoyed farming. He loved to sing gospel music. He was a member of Harrisonburg First Church of the Nazarene.
On October 25, 1952, he married the former Erma Greene who survives.
Also surviving are three children, Peggy Coffman and husband Milton of Harrisonburg; Sue Pennington and husband Colin of Bridgewater, Dale Bontrager and wife Debra of Harrisonburg; eight grandchildren, Daryl Coffman (Margaret), Cynthia Bolton (J. Dale), Douglas Coffman(Betty), Rebecca Fritzinger(Jared), Stefanie Pennington, Alyssa Pennington, Andrew Bontrager(Amy), Kristina Bontrager; five great grandchildren, Wesley Coffman, Jashelle Coffman, Dillon Bolton, Carter Bontrager, Kayden Bontrager; and two step great grandchildren, Kaitlynn Humphrey and Matthew Pryor.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Bontrager was preceded in death by a brother, Harold Bontrager.
Reverends Jim Harrison, Margaret Michael and Kerry Willis will conduct a memorial service on Saturday afternoon, December 20, 2014 at 3:00 p.m. at Harrisonburg First Church of the Nazarene. Burial will be private.
The family will receive friends on Friday evening at McMullen Funeral Home from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Friends may call at the funeral home beginning Thursday.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hope Distributed, a Harrisonburg First Church of the Nazarene ministry, 1871 Boyers Road, Harrisonburg, Virginia 22801.
