Alvin M. Miller

Alvin M. Miller, 88 Alvin Marshall Miller, 88, a resident of Harrisonburg, passed away on July 14, 2012 at Willow Estates. Mr. Miller was born on May 6, 1924 in Harrisonburg and was the son of the late Ernie and Beatrice Coffman Miller. He worked for many years in the auto parts industry, working for both Valley Distributors and Corner Parts. He had a passion for antiques buying and selling antiques at the Shenandoah Heritage Market. He was also an avid golfer. On August 18, 1944, he married the former Velma Dove who preceded him in death on August 1, 2003. Surviving is a son, Ronald Miller and wife Mitzi of Waynesboro; four sisters, Mildred Whitmore and husband Sheldon, Carman Baugher, Betty Robinson all of Harrisonburg and Joyce Wilt and husband Roger of Broadway; five grandchildren, Cindy Townsend, Melanie Miller, Sheena Dwyer, Stephanie Gillen, and Cerita Newkirk and nine great grandchildren. Mr. Miller was preceded in death by a son, Dwight Miller and a brother, Jack Miller. Sheldon Whitmore, Sr. will conduct a funeral service on Wednesday morning, July 18, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at the McMullen Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow at the Mt. Pleasant Cemetery.
