Alva Rheuziska Bible Obituary (1935

Alva W. Bible, 82 Alva Rheuziska Weaver Bible, 82, a resident of Harrisonburg, passed away on July 26, 2017 at Sentara RMH Medical Center. Mrs. Bible was born on June 1, 1935 in Hardy County, West Virginia and was the daughter of the late Oscar Luther, Sr. and Edna Malily Kohne Weaver. Alva was a very hard worker and worked to help support her family. She loved the outdoors and was an avid hunter. She and her husband enjoyed hunting and fishing and taught their children to love and the same and appreciate wildlife and the great outdoors. She was an adventurer and at the age of 76, went skydiving and then at the age of 80 decided to do it again and took up donations for VAIL. She loved to help others and worked hard as a fundraiser for the Broadway High School Band to raise money when her grandchildren were in band and again for her great granddaughter, Elizabeth. She loved bluegrass music and was fondly known by many as "Bluegrass Grandma". She attended all of the local bluegrass festivals and concerts. At the music festivals she collected donations for the Shriners transportation needs. She was recognized for her many acts of kindness. She was a member of Greenmount Church of the Brethren. She loved her entire family and they all loved her dearly. On February 28, 1954, she married Berlin Bible who preceded her in death on August 30, 1999. Surviving are two children, Debbie Dean of Harrisonburg, Lonnie Bible and fiancee Patricia Dean of Harrisonburg,; siblings, Edith "Gay" Yarbrough of Elkview, West Virginia, Malily Payne and husband Nelson of Linville, Bernice "Cookie" Atkins of Harrisonburg, Virginia "Dare" Morris and husband Billy of Harrisonburg, Betty Southerly of Harrisonburg; four grandchildren, Joseph "Jody" Bible and wife Lydia, Norma Bible and companion Ricky Howdyshell, David M. Dean, Becky Dean and fiance Aubrey Hottinger; ten great grandchildren; three great-great grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews. Alva was preceded in death by a daughter, Paula Louise Bible ;a son-in-law, William "Mike" Dean and her siblings, Gwendola Good, Treva Good, Oscar L. Weaver, Jr. Marion Weaver Pastor Roger Sager will conduct a funeral service on Saturday, July 29, 2017 at 2 p.m. at Greenmount Church of the Brethren. Burial will follow at Linville Cemetery.
