Alma Lee Huffman

Alma Lee Huffman, 89, of Broadway, passed away on Thursday November 2, 2017 at the Life Care Center of New Market with her daughter lying by her side.
Mrs. Huffman was born in Cherry Grove, WV on May 10, 1928 and was a daughter of the late Minor and Nora (Lambert) Vandevander. Alma was a "Rosie the Riveter" during World War II at Glen L. Martins, now Lockheed Martin in Maryland and H.D. Lee Company in Broadway. She later retired from the Quality Inn of New Market.
She married the love of her life Harold L. Huffman on January 11, 1946 who preceded her in death on June 20, 2002.
Surviving are two daughters, Linda Lonas and husband Stanley Eugene of Basye, VA, Thelma Halterman and husband Larry of Broadway; one son, Tommy Huffman and wife Lois of Broadway. She was blessed with seven grandchildren, Amy Scruggs and husband Danny, Tracy Rhodes and husband Philip, Amanda Baughman and husband Travis, Kelly Pults and husband Eric, Brian Huffman and wife Samantha, Tammy Mongold and husband Brian, Ashley Riggleman and husband Chris; thirteen great-grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter; a daughter-in-law, Ruby Marlene Huffman of Broadway; and a special niece, Doris Talalai of Georgia, who lived with and was raised by Minor and Nora. In addition to her husband and parents, Mrs. Huffman was preceded in death by a son, Robert Huffman; five brothers, Othis, Luther, Dolan, Berlin, Willy; and four sisters, Bonnie, Mattie, Vella, and Ruthaline.
A funeral service will be held at the McMullen Funeral Home, on Monday November 6, 2017 at 11 AM with Rev. Harvey Yoder officiating. The burial will follow at Eastlawn Memorial Gardens.
The family will receive friends on Sunday, November 5, 2017 from 4 until 6 PM at the McMullen Funeral Home.
